Brown could develop into the leading candidate to serve as the Athletics' primary first baseman in the wake of Matt Olson's trade to Atlanta, Jesse Borek of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brown saw his most extensive big-league action yet in 2021, logging 307 plate appearances during which he put together a .214/.274/.480 slash line with 20 home runs and 48 RBI. While his contact rate and on-base percentage clearly need work, the lefty-swinging Brown's power and 203 games of minor-league experience at first base could certainly help him state his case this spring for the strong side of a platoon at the position.
