The Pirates selected the contract of Maggi from Double-A Altoona on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Maggi will take the place of Bryan Reynolds on the 26-man roster with Reynolds placed on the bereavement list. The 33-year-old will have a chance to make his MLB debut if he gets into a game with Pittsburgh after spending 13 seasons in the minors with four different organizations.
