Conley says he's fine after being struck by a line drive on the right calf during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals, The Miami Herald reports. "Usually what I like to tell myself is that the ball weighs five ounces, so how bad can it hurt?" Conley said after the game.
EDGE Analysis
The results weren't pretty for the 26-year-old lefty in his first action of the spring, as he allowed four runs on five hits in one inning, but results aren't particularly important in the last week of February. Conley is all but locked into a spot in the Marlins' rotation to begin the season, but manager Don Mattingly has made it clear that he intends to lean heavily on a deep bullpen, so wins could be hard to come by for Conley if he doesn't show a dramatic improvement in his ability to pitch deep into games.
