Colvin signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Sunday, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports. Colvin has some level of pedigree as a former first-round pick by the Cubs in 2006, but at this stage in his career, the 29-year-old's flaws as a hitter have been too frequently exposed at the MLB level. Over 1,316 career plate appearances in the big leagues, Colvin has produced a .239/.287/.446 batting line while striking out 26.7 percent of the time. Without a 40-man roster spot to hang his hat on, Colvin will have a difficult time reaching the majors again.
