Colvin accepted his outright assignment Monday, Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports. Colvin will likely head back to Triple-A Fresno rather than electing free agency and looking for work elsewhere. He could find himself back on the Giants' roster in September when they expand, but for now will work on improving at the plate, where he hit just .223/.268/.381 over 57 games with the big-league club this season.
