Colome was brought on in the eighth inning in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Red Sox, getting the final out of the frame with a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The closer was brought on for what presumably would have been a four-out save, as the Rays were clinging to a 4-2 lead at the time. Colome came on with two aboard and set down Hanley Ramirez on a swinging strike three to snuff out the threat. However, given Tampa's seven-run explosion in the top half of the ninth, there was no need for manager Kevin Cash to send Colome back out for the ninth. The 28-year-old right-hander has yet to give up a hit over the five innings spanning his six May appearances.
