Colome could be in line for more save opportunities with the news that Brad Boxberger (abdominal) will be out at least eight weeks.

While manager Kevin Cash made a point of mentioning the Rays will likely stick to a closer by committee approach, it only makes sense that Colome will get the first crack at managing the role. While the 27-year-old put up a disappointing 3.94 ERA last season, much of the damage came during his time in the starting rotation. After finding his way into the bullpen near the middle of July, Colome was a lockdown pitcher, only giving up 11 through 37.1 innings.
