Collmenter (2-0) struck out eight and gave up two earned runs on four hits and three walks over five innings in a 7-3 victory over the Nationals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran was making his first start at the major league level in more than 15 months and acquitted himself well against a potent Nationals lineup. Collmenter missed plenty of bats, generating 13 swinging strikes over his 94 pitches. The one hitter he couldn't solve was Trea Turner, who touched up the 30-year-old for a pair of solo homers in the first and fifth innings, respectively. Collmenter may be moved to the bullpen for the balance of the campaign, but Saturday's outing certainly provided reason for optimism should he get another turn in the rotation.
