Clippard went 1.2 innings and gave up one run while striking out three to record his 12th save of the year in a 3-2 victory over the Angels on Sunday. Clippard was inches away from a blown save, as a long flyball off the bat of Johnny Giavotella nearly found itself over the left field wall for a two-run homer, but Sam Fuld made a nice catch at the warning track. The A's closer came on for starter Scott Kazmir with one out in the eighth inning, and struck out Mike Trout before serving a home run to Albert Pujols on a 3-2 pitch. The homer was the first Clippard has given up since May 17 and the third he's allowed this season.
