Clippard locked down his fourth save, throwing a scoreless ninth with two saves on Monday. After a one-save April due mostly to a lack of opportunities, Clippard has three saves in May and has only been scored upon in one May outing. With Sean Doolittle on a rehab assignment, it is possible Clippard's days as closer are coming to an end, although it is not yet clear if the A's will slot Doolittle in as the closer right away upon his return.
