Clippard blew the save and took the loss on Sunday, allowing two earned runs over 1.1 innings. Clippard entered the game in the eighth inning and got out of a jam, but then blew the save in the ninth allowing a two-run double to Evan Gattis. Clipprd was hurt by a poor decision by Brett Lawrie on a ground ball that should have been an out, but allowed the double to Gattis on his own. This was only the second save opportunity Clippard has had this year and he was not able to convert it. He will hold down the role until Sean Doolittle returns from injury, likely in mid to late May.
