Gallo (hamstring) is beginning a rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A St. Paul, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Gallo will start at first base and bat third against the Triple-A affiliate of the Cubs. The 29-year-old slugger landed on the 10-day injured list less than a week ago with a hamstring strain and could be ready for activation when first eligible next Tuesday.
