Clayton Richard yielded five runs over 6 2/3 innings in Monday's loss to the Cubs. It was his longest outing of the spring. Richard held the Cubs scoreless over the first three innings before he gave up one in the fourth, three in the fifth and one more in his final inning of work. All told, he allowed seven hits -- including a three-run homer by Dave Sappelt -- while striking out four and walking none. Coming off a 3.99 ERA in 33 starts last season, Richard is expected to be the club's Opening Day starter.
