Clayton Richard requested $5.55 million and was offered $4.905 million from the Padres when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday. Perhaps the Padres most consistent starter from the 2012 campaign, Richard seems likely to earn around $5.2 million. He pitched a career high 218 2/3 innings in 2012, and despite leading the league in home runs allowed (31), managed to keep his ratios respectable with a 3.99 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He makes for a decent late-round flier, especially when skimming his home starts.
