Ramirez allowed an unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out one over a third of an inning to earn the save in Thursday's 8-7 win over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks entered the ninth inning with an 8-2 lead, but shaky relief pitching and two fielding errors let Philadelphia back in. It was 8-5 with one runner one and two out when Ramirez entered. He walked the first batter faced, which was followed by a passed ball and a two-run single. Ramirez finally closed out the game with a three-pitch (all changeups) strikeout of Brad Miller. It was Ramirez's first save of the season and second of his career. It's unclear why manager Torey Lovullo eschewed Tyler Clippard for the save chance.
