Doolittle was cast off the Reds' 40-man roster Tuesday, but he'll join the Mariners after right-hander Keynan Middleton was designated for assignment Thursday. The southpaw has high-leverage experience but converted just one of his five save chances in 45 relief appearances with the Reds to begin the season. However, since Middleton was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, it appears as though Doolittle won't immediately join the big-league club.
