Chris Carpenter (shoulder) will shift his rehab assignment to Triple-A Memphis this Saturday. Carpenter allowed three runs on six hits and two walks over 2 2/3 innings in his rehab debut Monday with Double-A Springfield, but he flashed good velocity and reported no physical issues. The veteran right-hander is now just one step away from returning to the Cardinals, though he seems likely to make more than one start with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds. Joe Kelly will continue to serve as St. Louis' fifth starter for the time being.
