Chris Carpenter (shoulder, back) has been cleared to resume a throwing program. Carpenter has been shut down since earlier this week with lower back stiffness and will throw a light bullpen session Saturday before being reevaluated. The Cardinals originally hoped that Carpenter could be available in late June, but he likely won't be an option to return until after the All-Star break.
