Chris Carpenter has officially informed the Cardinals that he will retire. An expected decision. Carpenter attempted to make a comeback earlier this year, but had to shut things down after feeling renewed numbness in his throwing hand. The 2005 NL Cy Young Award winner call it a career with a 144-94 lifetime record to go along with a 3.76 ERA. He is expected to remain with the organization in a yet-to-be announced position.
