Chen threw 4.1 innings Monday against the Nationals, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out three and receiving a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
The Nationals' damage came in the form of a three-run home run off the bat of Washington shortstop Danny Espinosa in the fifth inning, but was not enough as the Marlins fought back to win the game 4-3. Chen was on a pitch count Monday, throwing just 66 pitches before being removed. He held a 4.99 ERA over 110 innings prior to Monday's start, the highest ERA of his five-year career. Chen will likely get two more starts to finish up the regular season, one this weekend against the Braves and then a rematch with Washington, although pitch counts will likely cap Chen's ceiling substantially in those starts.
