Chen is still dealing with some of the effects of the elbow injury that prematurely ended his 2017 season. He was cleared to begin throwing in early February, but Sunday marks the first time that he's been able to pitch to live hitters. Chen won't be ready for Opening Day, but the Marlins are hopeful that he'll be able to rejoin the rotation in the not-so-distant future. The team hasn't provided much insight into when that will be, though Sunday's throwing session is a significant milestone in the right direction.
