Chen (elbow) threw 65 pitches in a simulated game Sunday and could be the Marlins' choice next time they need a spot starter, MLB.com reports
EDGE Analysis
According to manager Don Mattingly, Chen is done throwing simulated games. He could start as soon as next Monday against Washington, a start currently slated to be taken by prospect Jake Esch. It's also possible Chen could start even earlier, although it would be surprising if he makes his way to the mound before the weekend considering the amount of pitches he threw Sunday. Chen owns a career worst 4.99 ERA in 110 innings for Miami this season.
