Chen couldn't get out of the fifth inning Tuesday, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks in 4.1 innings against the Rays. The veteran southpaw just wasn't very efficient with his pitches in his first outing of the season. He ran up his pitch count to 96 (62 strikes) without finishing the fifth inning, which is particularly disappointing because he would have ended up with a win had him simply gone five innings. He will have time to recover from the stressful first start, as he does not take the ball again until Monday at home against the Yankees.
