Chase Whitley struggled in a losing effort against the Red Sox on Sunday, surrendering five runs on eight hits over four-plus innings of work. Whitley also issued a pair of walks while striking out one. A three-run homer off the bat of David Ortiz provided the bulk of the damage against him. After posting a 2.56 ERA through his first seven starts, Whitley has now been tagged for 13 runs over 7 1/3 innings in his two starts this week. If he doesn't get back on track against the Twins in Minnesota on Friday, his rotation spot could be in jeopardy.
