Chase Headley reported improvement in his injured back on Friday and could return to the Padres lineup as early as Saturday. Headley has missed the last two games after leaving Tuesday's game with stiffness in his back. The 29-year-old has come back to Earth this season, hitting just .240/.331/.368 with eight homers and 36 RBI in 117 games.
