On the second night of his career in the majors, Chapman broke through with a go-ahead, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to give the A's a 7-6 lead that would hold as the final. He had driven in the first run of his career during the second inning on a groundout. All in all, it was a good night and sign of pleasant things to come for the team's sixth-ranked prospect.
