Cessa was optioned to Triple-A on Friday and will begin the process of being stretched into a starter, Jared Diamond of The Wall Street Journal reports.

Cessa was in a relief role with the Yankees to start the season, giving up one earned run with two strikeouts in two innings of work. Even though he could prove to be a solid reliever right now, the Yankees appear to prefer to let him develop as a starter in Triple-A where there will be more opportunities for him to work on his game.
