CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees inquired about Chase Headley but were told he's "as close as possible to an untouchable player without actually being one." That's probably not totally true, but it's not really a good time to trade Headley, anyway, given that he's batting only .229/.330/.359. Heyman adds that the Padres would consider dealing their third baseman only if "it's absolutely the right deal.'' Headley is making $8.575 million this season and will be arbitration-eligible for the final time over the winter.
