CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees have "checked in" on Mike Pelfrey. The Yankees could use another starter, but it's debatable whether Pelfrey would be an improvement after he posted a 5.19 ERA across 29 starts this past season. The Twins offered the right-hander a two-year, $10 million deal earlier this offseason, though that might have been pulled after they signed Ricky Nolasco and Phil Hughes.
