CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Red Sox and Cardinals "appear to be emerging" as two of the potential players to land White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy in a trade. Many have speculated on the Red Sox as a possible landing spot, as the club is trying to get Clay Buchholz (neck, shoulder) back to full health. It's a bit of a surprise to see the Cardinals mentioned given their depth, but they apparently want to add a veteran arm to the mix rather than rely on youth. With Matt Garza officially traded to the Rangers, Peavy could be considered the most high-profile starting pitcher available leading up to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. The 32-year-old is under contract for $14.5 million next season.
