CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Padres offered a three-year extension to Chase Headley during the offseason that was worth somewhere between $33-39 million. The offer was made after the two sides avoided arbitration with a one-year, $10.525 million deal, so the extension would have began in 2015. All told, he would have been guaranteed somewhere between $43.525 million and $49.525 million through 2017. Headley is said to be looking for a bigger deal and should have a pretty good chance to get it if he has a bounceback year. The 29-year-old is due to hit free agency this offseason.
