Carson was released by the A's on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. The 33-year-old struggled in 33 games with Triple-A Nashville after coming over from the Dodgers' organization, slashing .209/.296/.336 in 126 plate appearances. Carson has played in 92 career games at the major league level, but is little more than an organizational depth piece at this point.
