Carpenter (quad) has a .324 batting average over 34 Grapefruit League at-bats this spring, albeit with no home runs or stolen bases. Carpenter suffered a minor quad contusion last week but quickly returned to action. While there was some talk that he might not bat leadoff this season, Carpenter has been in his usual spot for most of spring training.
