Carlos Quentin is expected to be placed on the disabled list after his ailing left shoulder "didn't respond favorably" when he attempted some dry swings on Friday. Quentin has been sidelined since last Saturday, so he could return as early as September 6. However, the fact that the White Sox have decided to place him on the disabled list after playing with a short bench for nearly a week must mean he still has a lot of progress to make, as Quentin will now be unavailable for Chicago's critical three-game visit to Detroit that begins on September 2. Alejandro De Aza should continue to man right field in his absence.
