Carlos Quentin has dropped the appeal of his eight-game suspension and will begin serving it on Sunday. Major League Baseball was hearing the appeal, but Quentin has decided to drop it and go ahead and serve it now. The odds are good that they would have reduced it by one game, at most, anyway. Quentin will now miss the three-game series with the Dodgers that begins on Monday.
