Cardinals placed RHP Chris Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a right shoulder injury. Carpenter is currently dealing with nerve irritation in his right shoulder. He'll need to strengthen the shoulder before beginning a throwing program, but Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Friday that he's hoping the veteran right-hander will be able to return sometime in May. Lance Lynn will take his spot in the rotation for now.
