Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak will offer Chris Carpenter a front office role or another job elsewhere in the organization.
Carpenter will retire this offseason due to injuries. "I don't want to ... guess what he was trying to tell me or read the tea leaves," Mozeliak said. "In time, we'll all sit down and talk. ... I welcome that conversation. We touched on some things before the season ended, but obviously with everything going on in October, we never really ironed anything out." The 38-year-old right-hander won the National League Cy Young Award in 2005 and possesses two World Series rings (from 2006 and 2011).
would make a fantastic pitching coach, just look at the rapport he had with Waino and the others when he was on the active roster. he'd be better than Derek Lilliquist.
