Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said in an interview on 590 The Fan in St. Louis Friday that he's "optimistic" Chris Carpenter (shoulder) will return sometime in May. He added that the team would look outside the organization for help if he felt the nerve issue in Carpenter's shoulder was going to be a long-term problem, but he doesn't think it will be. It's an encouraging statement from the GM, as Carp's status had been pretty open-ended, but it sounds like he might be out only for a month or so. Lance Lynn will hold down a rotation spot in the meantime.
