Capuano will enter spring training with a chance to earn a spot in the starting rotation. Capuano made the start in all 12 of his appearances with the Yankees last season after serving as a long reliever with the Red Sox in the first half of 2014, and he'll be given a chance to reprise that role in the starting rotation in 2015. The club's top four pitchers appear to be set, so Capuano will likely have to compete with Adam Warren and Esmil Rogers for the fifth spot. With Ivan Nova set to return from Tommy John surgery in May or June, it could just be a temporary assignment before getting pushed back to the bullpen upon Nova's return.
