With starter Dan Straily opening the season on the disabled list, the Miami Marlins have turned to lefty Caleb Smith as the club's No. 2 when they begin the season against the Cubs, according to Joe Frisaro. Smith, who came over to the Marlins in the Giancarlo Stanton deal, was shellacked for a 7.71 ERA in fewer than 19 innings for the Yankees last season. Frisaro reports that Smith fared well in the minors, but that success didn't translate whenever he was called up.
