Free-agent left-hander Caleb Smith agreed to a minor-league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. The deal includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Smith previously pitched for the New York Yankees, Miami Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks.
