Cain (arm) threw 90 pitches in a minor league game Monday and should be ready for the regular season, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain had a cyst removed from his arm at the beginning of spring training but has recovered just in time for the beginning of the regular season. The fact that he threw 90 pitches while maintaining his velocity in the 89-91 MPH range is a good sign that he is healthy. Even though he appears to be fully recovered, fantasy owners in standard leagues should take a wait-and-see approach before taking a chance on the three-time All-Star, as his past two seasons have been sub-par. Cain will serve as the Giants' fifth starter and is slated to make his regular season debut April 8 against the Dodgers.
