Cain (arm) faced three batters in a two-inning simulated game Monday and everything went as planned, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
After throwing a bullpen session Saturday, Cain took another step forward by pitching in a simulated game. The 31-year old righty had a cyst removed from this throwing arm in February and began his recovery process just about a week ago. After another positive step in his rehab, the next logical move would be to throw in a spring training game. Cain should see a couple appearances in spring training games in the coming weeks and if he doesn't have any setbacks, it's likely he'll be ready to go for the start of the regular season.
