Byrd is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals. Byrd had started the first five games of the season for manager Bryan Price, but will take a seat Sunday with hard-throwing right-hander Carlos Martinez on the bump for the Cardinals. Brennan Boesch will draw the start in left field in Byrd's stead, but look for the veteran to return to the lineup when the Reds open a three-game series against the Cubs on Monday.
