Bruce is expected to get some reps at first base this spring, The NY Post reports. "Just because Lucas has had some injury issues, I think we've probably got to have Jay do some work over there," Mets manager Terry Collins said Tuesday. "Not push it on him, because he still is going to play the outfield. But we have just got to make sure we have another option there, especially if something happens to Lucas where we've got a left-handed bat that can go over there."

Wilmer Flores is available to platoon for Duda against left-handed pitching, but if Duda's back issues take him out of the lineup again for a significant length of time, the Mets might prefer to put Bruce at first base and open up an outfield spot for Michael Conforto. This doesn't alter Bruce's fantasy value much, but it does underscore that the team is committed to keeping his bat in the lineup if they can't find a way to unload his contract before Opening Day.
