Brewers placed SS Alex Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee injury. Gonzalez suffered the knee injury Saturday while sliding into second base on a stolen base attempt. The Brewers are waiting until the swelling subsides to put him through an MRI but are already resigned to the fact that he's going to be out a while. Carlos Gomez (hamstring strain) was also placed on the disabled list Saturday. Look for Cesar Izturis to handle starting shortstop duties.
