Braves released 2B Dan Uggla. Uggla had been playing sparingly for the Braves this season and has hit just .175/.295/.332 batting line since the beginning of last year. He's still owed roughly $18.5 million through the end of next season, but Atlanta viewed it as a sunk cost at this point. Uggla will be scooped up cheaply by someone, but it's hard to imagine him rediscovering his stroke anytime soon.
