Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that Scott Rolen is expected to retire this offseason. Nightengale says Rolen is expected to delay the announcement a while, but he anticipates the third baseman to hang up his cleats for good. Rolen was asked about his intentions after striking out to end the NLDS loss to the Giants Thursday but only said that he's "going to go home and be a dad." The 37-year-old has batted .281/.364/.490 with 316 homers and eight Gold Gloves during his 17-year career.
