Blue Jays optioned OF Travis Snider and 1B David Cooper to Triple-A Las Vegas; reassigned C Yan Gomes, INF Jonathan Diaz and INF Chris Woodward to minor league camp. This means that Eric Thames will start in left for Toronto. It's unclear what the Jays plan to do with Snider. Still just 24, the young slugger posted a 1.005 OPS this spring. Perhaps the organizational will look to trade him. Cooper, another trade candidate, is blocked at first base by Adam Lind, who is under team control through 2016 at a team-friendly rate. The 24-year-old prospect batted .364/.439/.535 with nine home runs, 51 doubles and 96 RBI in 120 games last year at the Triple-A level. He was the 17th overall pick in the 2008 MLB Amateur Draft.
