Blue Jays acquired INF Mike Aviles from Red Sox in exchange for RHP David Carpenter and manager John Farrell. The deal was reported Saturday and has now become official. Aviles, 31, batted .250/.282/.381 with 13 home runs, 14 stolen bases and 60 RBI in 136 games this past season for the Red Sox. He's better suited for a utility role but could be in the mix for the second base job in Toronto with Kelly Johnson slated for free agency.
